My dissertation project was around the idea that not enough people are aware of Dyslexia. My aim was to improve the understanding of the subject in order to ensure that more individuals can get diagnosed from a younger age as it will be recognised easier.
I designed an app called ‘dyslexSEEus’ which provides information for parents and teachers about what dyslexia is, what to look out for, types of dyslexia, resources available, useful statistics, the next steps to diagnosis and finally, useful links. The name has been designed from a dyslexic’s point of view, that more people need to ‘see us’. The app has a feature where you can choose a coloured overlay you would like to read with- something that most dyslexic people find make reading easier. The colours you can choose from is yellow, blue, and purple as it has been proven that these are the most popular colours.
I created this app using Adobe XD, it is in fully working order and you can follow the app through all pages as if you downloaded it from the app store. I am hoping to take this project further as this is a subject that I feel strongly about, I was overlooked for years and had to struggle throughout school, so I want to change that for future students so that they can get the support they need in order to achieve their full potential.
